Dual Enrollment Experiences

During the past four years, students participated in dual enrollment programs such as: WMESA, AG TECH, and AG PREP. These programs were implemented to encourage students to take advanced courses and bond with other students interested in the program. Students created a support dynamic in which they all helped each other succeed in challenging courses. This learning opportunity has impacted many of our students, leaving them with the following highlights.

  • Building community among student groups within the program
  • Going on trips to learn about colleges such as Cal Poly SLO
  • Attending a career fair in Delano
  • Being exposed to what a college course might look like
  • Preparing for challenging experiences outside of high school
  • Easing into college level courses by having the flow of a high school class
  • Creating study habits, time management, and other essential skills
  • Participating and challenging themselves by taking advanced classes

This program has been very beneficial to student success and encouragement. It has allowed students to gain confidence when discussing college and prepare for challenging courses. Students are leaving the dual enrollment programs with a team of supportive students/staff they have been bonding with for the past four years. Student feedback has strengthened the idea that the dual enrollment program has become an essential part of the RSUSD community.
