    Greetings Parent/Guardians, Students, and Staff,

As you all know, I have been named as the new Principal of Tamarack Elementary School.  It has been my distinct privilege and honor for the last several of years serving the community of Madera as a school administrator.  I am now looking forward to this exciting new challenge as the Educational Leader for this great school and its dedicated staff.  I also look forward to the continued process of learning and growing with our students, working with the staff of professionals, and of also working with our parents and other stakeholders.  My family and I are very happy that I will be establishing a new positive and exciting relationship with the Reef-Sunset Unified School District community.

TAMARACK TIGERS are a community of caring, responsible, and respectful citizens: who will continue to have P.A.W.S. for success.  We will continue to use a Positive Behavior Intervention and Support system to build values and self-esteem within our children.  We strive to recognize the great things students do to motivate them to continue doing even GREATER things.  We recognize academic success, attendance, and positive behaviors during our Tiger assemblies every month. We strive to provide activities to involve all students in our school, creating a sense of belonging and a reason to strive for success.

We look forward to expanding upon successes each year.  Students will have opportunities to participate in after school tutoring, reading club, and activities.  Each student will have the opportunity to explore new places through field trips; to exciting locations like the zoo, the coast, and museums.

Every grade includes expository text in their classrooms.  Students read and learn about many topics, including animals, the La Brea Tar Pits, and biographies of influential people in history.  These studies help increase our students' academic vocabulary, make connections to the world, and provide the opportunity to turn learning into writing.

As we plan for the future we will continue our work with expository text and increase our focus on reading and writing.  As parents, we encourage you to practice reading AND writing with your child every day.

We learn to read, so that we will read to learn…

The more we read, the better we write…

The better we write, the more we can accomplish!!

We hope to see you at SSC/ELAC meetings, parent/teacher meetings, and other events during the year.  If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call the office anytime between 7:00 a.m. until 3:45 p.m.  I will be happy to speak with you.
