Elementary School

     Tami Tiger

Tamarack Elementary is a community of caring, responsible, and respectful citizens. We use a Positive Behavior Intervention and Support system to build values and self esteem within our children. We strive to recognize the great things students do to motivate them to continue doing even GREATER things. We recognize academic success,  attendance, and positive behaviors during our Tiger assembly every month. We strive to provide activities to involve all students in our school to create a sense of belonging and a reason to strive for success.

We look forward to expanding upon successes each year. Students have numerous opportunities to participate in after school tutoring, school clubs, and activities. Each student has the opportunity to explore new places through field trips to exciting locations like the zoo, a California Mission, the coast, or cultural museums.

Every grade includes expository text in their classrooms. Students read and learn about many topics, including animals, the La Brea Tar Pits, and biographies of influential people in history.  These studies help increase our students' academic vocabulary, make connections to the world, and provide the opportunity to turn learning into writing. For me the best part of the day is seeing the excitement in the eyes of our students as they talk about topics in which they are really interested.

As we plan for the future we will continue our work with expository text and increase our focus on writing. As parents we encourage you to practice reading AND writing with your child every day.

The more we write, the better we read…

The more we read, the better we write.

We hope to see you at PTO meetings, parent meetings, and other events during year.
